Greetings from The Lighthouse!

We are in the midst of our “Make Your Mark” series. We have looked at how “X Marks the Spot,” we are to follow Jesus, look to God for what’s acceptable in life, believe in His truth alone, the paradox of faith that the more we give, the more we receive, and this Sunday, we explored the beauty of God’s family and the importance of staying connected in fellowship. God created us to enjoy His creation and family, and derives incredible pleasure when He sees us enjoying life. So this week, focus on enjoying life, connecting with God, and spreading His light and live wherever you go!

Giving Reminder & Update: Friends, thank you for your X-treme Generosity! We had one of our strongest offerings this past week in quite a while; over $5,000! We continue to need your sacrificial and ongoing support, though. The month of February is typically quite difficult because of the mid-winter breaks our students and families will enjoy in just two weeks. Please stay current with your giving. If you can offer any above-and-beyond gifts, please do so. And plan ahead for times when you know you might be away to help us stay current with our administrative and program expenses.

Financial Peace University: Cokes Chapel UMC in Sharpsburg is offering Dave Ramsey’s, Financial Peace University. Classes will meet on Saturday mornings at 9am, beginning Feb.20. To register, or get more information, visit www.daveramsey.com.

Setup Team Help: We are working to retool our setup teams this month and need your help. Please consider serving in this very important capacity. Setup teams meet at The Legacy at 9am on Sunday mornings to prepare the space for hospitality and worship and clean up following the service. For more information on how you can get involved on a setup team, please contact Pastor Mark.

Blue Pew (New): Shop much? Now when you shop online Lighthouse can benefit from the proceeds. Click here and shop at your favorite online stores. When you register they will ask you which church is you. Click Methodist and Tyrone, GA and Lighthouse will pop up. Happy Shopping!

Small Groups (New): Small Groups are the most important thing you can do, outside of worship, to grow closer to God and His family. We have three new groups forming for the winter and spring months. Please avail yourself to one of these opportunities:
-Online Disciple Bible Study: Only at Lighthouse would you be able to enjoy the pleasure of an online small group!  Starting February 7, Pastor Shannon will offer the Disciple class: Invitation to the Old Testament.  It is an in-depth, high-commitment Bible study that is completed in 11 weeks.  Participants will need to register with Pastor Shannon and login via Facebook.  Each participant will also need a participant book that has the daily reading assignments and notes.  Group discussion questions will be posted every Sunday and members can comment at their leisure.  This study is perfect for those who would like an in-depth study but are not able to commit to a specific date and time for a small group due to work or family schedules.  The group will also be doing an ongoing service project to help the children affected by the earthquake in Haiti.  Please see Pastor Shannon for more information.
-Monday Evenings, 7pm at Pam Todd's in Peachtree City, studying current events from a biblical perspective (currently meeting)
-Wednesday Evening, 6:30pm at Jeff & Jennifer Ellison's home in Senoia, using the "Fireproof" movie and scripture to discuss marriage and relationships (currently meeting)
-Wednesday Evening, 7pm at Ellen Trueblood's home in Fairburn (currently meeting)
-Ongoing opportunities for men (Watchmen), women (Beacon Beauties), youth (FOCUS Students), children (Lighthouse Kids & Pier 345), and seasonal gatherings for college students and young adults (LightKeepers)

Haiti Earthquake Relief: The General Board of Global Ministries for the United Methodist Church is receiving online donations that can immediately be put into use for Haiti Earthquake Relief. Click hereto be directed to their web site for a secure online giving option. Don't forget about our AOK to provide relief kits to UMCOR. These kits will be sent to help relief efforts in Haiti and across the globe.  Click here for more information.

Subscribing To The LAMP: For those of you who tend to get behind on reading The Lamp, there are a few alternative ways to read this blog. If you use Microsoft Outlook (other email programs have this as well), you have a folder called RSS feeds. You can add this blog as an RSS feed that will show up every time it is updated (kind of like getting a new email). To get our RSS link, click on the orange RSS button at the top of the blog under our sermon series logo. Another way to read the updates is to use a blog subscriber service. Click on the orange RSS button and you'll see the different options. If you read many other blogs, this is a great way to organize all of them. Of course we always send out an email to our list of contact each with tell you that the blog has been updated. There is a link in this email and we will still continue to do that. If you are not part of this distribution list and would like to be, please contact Kathy Willix at lighthouseumc@bellsouth.net with your email address.

FOCUS Youth Ministry: Weekly gatherings for the FOCUS youth occur most Sunday for students in grades 6-12 at "The Basement". Click here for the FOCUS Youth Schedule through mid-March. For more information on FOCUS, please click here or contact Bobby Totten.

Weekly Prayer Meetings: We are holding brief (no more than 5-minute) weekly prayer gatherings at 10:15am before worship. This is a great way to pray for the worship team, speaker, Lighthouse, our community, and seek God's face as we strive to be the church He has created and called us to be. Please make plans to be a part of this new weekly prayer ministry at Lighthouse!

This Sunday, we will explore the beauty of God’s family and the importance of staying connected in fellowship in Pastor Mark’s message, X-Games.  Our scripture lesson comes from 1 Corinthians 9.19-26.

We are very excited to welcome Josh Hubbell to our ministry Team as he takes on leadership for the Sunday Worship Band! Please be sure to extend the warm hand of Christian fellowship as we officially welcome Josh to his new leadership role in the church this Sunday!

Giving Reminder & Update: Friends, we continue to need your sacrificial and ongoing support. We fell significantly behind what is needed to pay our expenses for the month of January. The month of February is typically quite difficult because of the mid-winter breaks our students and families will enjoy in just two weeks. Please stay current with your giving. Beacon Beauties Valentine's Tea: The Beacon beauties will have a Valentine's Tea on Saturday, Feb 6th at Tammy Dunn's home in Newnan at 4pm. Please bring your favorite tea cup/mug and a small appetizer to share - think English Tea type things. Tea bags will be provided, as will the devotion.  Also bring some ideas for other activities and outreach projects we can accomplish this year. Tammy's address is: 110 Pegasus Trace, Newnan 30263. For more information, please contact Tammy Dunn at montessori.mama@yahoo.com.
